Propolis Honey: A Natural Remedy

Propolis is a natural resin used by bees to build and repair honeycombs while also disinfecting the cells for rearing larvae. Unlike honey, which is made from nectar, propolis is produced using flower pollen and a sticky substance from tree buds. It has been widely used in traditional medicine, both on its own and mixed with honey.

This raw honey and propolis blend has a dense, opaque texture, similar to crystallised honey. Its colour varies depending on the type of honey used as a base: honeydew honey gives it an olive tint, buckwheat or forest honey results in a brown-nut shade, wildflower honey creates a golden or light tea colour, while spring flower honey with propolis appears milky-white.

Raw honey and propolis honey has a distinctive smoky, wax-like aroma and a rich, tart taste with a slight bitterness. While some enjoy it as a food product, many find its strong flavour more suitable for medicinal and health-boosting purposes.

Packed with beneficial nutrients, propolis honey contains essential microelements like iron and manganese, which support blood renewal. It is particularly rich in B vitamins, which aid the nervous system, as well as vitamins C, PP, and H. The flavonoids in propolis act as powerful antioxidants, enhancing metabolism, promoting longevity, and aiding fat burning. Known for its natural antibacterial properties, propolis sterilises honeycomb cells, making it a highly effective natural antibiotic.

Propolis honey is widely used to strengthen the immune system, combat viral infections, and act as an expectorant for respiratory conditions like bronchitis and laryngitis. It also supports oral health, aids digestion, reduces stress, promotes wound healing, and benefits eye health due to its unique composition, which includes bee venom and royal jelly.

For general well-being, take one tablespoon on an empty stomach daily, either directly or dissolved in warm water, ensuring at least a 45-minute gap before meals. It is particularly beneficial during seasonal changes when the risk of illness is higher.

Propolis honey should be avoided by those allergic to honey or propolis, individuals with acute pancreatitis or active ulcers, children under two years old, and people with diabetes unless advised by a doctor. While highly beneficial, it should be used as a complementary remedy rather than a substitute for prescribed medical treatment.

    • Premium Quality
Enjoy honey the way it’s meant to be—free from artificial additives, unprocessed, and packed with nutrients. Our honey is raw and unpasteurised, preserving its natural enzymes and antioxidants for maximum wellness benefits. The composition of honey is always unique, as it depends on the blooming of various plants, but its key components include Vitamins (B, C, and K), Carotene, Folic acid, Minerals (Iodine, Manganese, Phosphorus), Phytoncides, Saponins, and Essential oils. By avoiding filtration and pasteurisation, our honey may naturally contain macro particles of pollen, wax, and propolis. Our products are lab-tested to meet raw product standards and are guaranteed to be free from GMOs.
    • 100% Natural
It’s normal for raw honey to crystallise over time, developing a creamy or grainy texture. Frosting may also appear as small white marks caused by trapped air bubbles. These are natural characteristics of unprocessed honey and don’t affect its quality or taste. Once crystallised, honey becomes denser and lighter in colour, ranging from sunny yellow to creamy brown, like coffee with milk. The crystallisation time depends on the nectar composition, with higher fructose content leading to faster crystallisation (from two weeks to six months).
    • Care Storage and Recommendation
To keep your honey at its best, store it in a cool, dry, and dark place (0°C–20°C), ensuring the lid is tightly closed. This helps prevent moisture and preserves the honey’s rich flavour and texture. For optimal use, adults can enjoy 100–150 grams of pure honey daily, provided there are no contraindications. Children over three years old can enjoy this natural treat by mixing it into tea, water, fruits, or porridge. However, those with known allergies or specific medical conditions should consult a doctor before consuming.
